Privacy policy
Below I'll explain how this site collects, uses, and shares information about you, along with the choices that you have with respect to that information. By "using" or browsing this website, you hereby consent to this Privacy Policy and agree to its terms.
What is personal data?
Personal data means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person. This includes, for example, your name, telephone number, address and e-mail address.
Can I use this site anonymously?
Yes. You can access all the articles, videos, podcasts, and materials without creating an account. And if you don't create an account, this site won't collect any personal data about you.
Collected informations
It's probably no surprise that the information provided directly is stored and kept for an
indefinite period of time. In other words, all your communication with me.
For example, a copy of the messages sent from the contact form, or the comments from the articles I wrote.
The personal information that you are asked to provide, and the reasons why you are asked to provide it, will be
made clear to you at the point when you will be asked to provide your personal information.
There are no ads on this website, so I don't make money from ads. This site doesn't collect data in order to advertise to you. The tracking is in order to make this site work as well as possible. This includes basic functions (like counting visits on article pages) and key features like personalizing what posts you see based on what the AI think you'll like.
So, to give you the best possible experience in using this site, it collects anonymous information from your interactions with it: based on actions you take while using this site, such as what pages you view (including how much of a given page and for how long) and your use of page features (such as comments you post or the like/dislike buttons you press).
Automatically collected information
This site automatically collects:
- log information — information that web browsers, mobile devices, and servers typically make available, including the browser type, IP address, language preference, referring site, the date and time of access, operating system
- usage information — what and how many pages you browse, your device details (screen size, user agent, if it is capable of modern web apis, and so on..)
This information is aggregated and de-identified. It can no longer reasonably be used to identify you. For instance, I may publish (on this site or on other platforms) aggregate statistics about the use of this site or it's traffic.
How and why is this information used
To ensure quality, maintain safety, and improve (or personalize) this site.
By monitoring and analyzing how users interact with this site I can create new features that I think the users will enjoy and it will help them use these pages (this site) more easy.
To protect this site, the public or to fix its problems, to develop new features and functionality
By detecting security incidents, detecting and protecting against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity; fighting spam; by debugging, repairing, and preventing issues.
How this information is shared
The collected information is not shared with anyone. There are no 3rd parties. Just me :)
However, because of the legal and regulatory requirements, I must disclose information about you in response to a subpoena, court order, or other governmental request.
I do not sell my visitor's data. I'm not a data broker, nor do I sell data or personal information to data brokers or sell your information to other companies that want to spam you with marketing emails.
Information that you choose to make public is — you guessed it — disclosed
publicly.
That means information like your posts and comments are all available to others — and I hope they get a lot
of views!
Public information may also be indexed by search engines or used by third parties.
Please keep all of this in mind when deciding what you would like to share publicly.
How this information is kept
I generally discard information about you when it's no longer needed for the purposes for which was collect and
use it — described in the section above on How and why is this information used and I'm not
legally required to keep it.
For example, I keep the web server logs that record information about a visitor, like the visitor's IP address,
browser type, and operating system, for approximately 3 years. I retain the logs for this period of time in order
to, among other things, analyze traffic to this website and investigate issues if something goes wrong.
Security
While no online service is 100% secure, I work very hard to protect information about you against unauthorized access, use, alteration, or destruction, and take reasonable measures to do so. I monitor my site (and the above logs) for potential vulnerabilities and attacks and I use encryption (HTTPS/TLS) to protect data transmitted to and from this site (that's pretty much a thing now, like an industry standard).
